The Speediots Racing Sporting Code ensures a competitive and fun environment for all members of the Speediots Racing community. The following rules are designed to promote fair racing and uphold the integrity of our events. All participants are expected to abide by these rules during official events, and any violation may result in disqualification or other penalties.

1

Code of Conduct

1.1 General Behavior

Every participant must demonstrate respect for their fellow competitors, organizers, and the community at large. Abusive behavior, harassment, and toxic language are strictly prohibited. Competitors should maintain positive sportsmanship, regardless of race results.

1.2 On-Track Courtesy

Drivers are encouraged to be courteous and mindful when racing, especially when lapping traffic or overtaking. Always give competitors space and avoid aggressive moves that may cause accidents.

2

General Racing Rules

2.1 Clean Racing

Drivers are expected to race cleanly and avoid collisions. Deliberate or excessive contact, such as bumping, punting, or wrecking competitors, will not be tolerated.

2.2 Unsafe Rejoin

A driver who leaves the racing surface due to a spin or crash must rejoin safely without affecting other competitors.

  • Check for approaching traffic before re-entering.
  • Rejoin parallel to the racing direction.
  • Traffic Priority: Cars already on track at full speed always have the right of way over a rejoining car.

2.3 Overtaking Responsibility

Overtaking should be done fairly and decisively in safe areas. Drivers should not risk their own or others' races. If contact occurs, the at-fault driver may be penalized.

2.4 Defending Position

When defending a position, the defending driver must give racing room and cannot make multiple changes of direction. "Weaving" to break the tow is not allowed and will be penalized.

2.5 Track Limits

Competitors must stay within the defined track limits at all times. Regularly cutting corners or driving off track to gain a position will result in penalties. Excessive jumping of kerbs to gain an advantage is prohibited.

3

Flag Rules

Drivers must strictly obey all flag signals displayed by the simulation software or race control.

3.1 General Flag Definitions

Green FlagRace starts or resumes.
Yellow FlagCaution — slow down.
Blue FlagA faster car is about to overtake.
Red FlagRace stopped.
Black FlagDisqualification or penalty.
Meatball FlagPit stop required — mechanical issue.
White FlagOne lap to go.
Checkered FlagRace is over.

3.2 Blue Flag Protocol (Lapped Traffic)

  • Stay on Line: The lapped driver should not make sudden or unpredictable lane changes. Maintain the racing line.
  • Predictability: Be consistent with braking and cornering. Unexpected braking on apexes or straights is prohibited.
  • Facilitate the Pass: The lapped driver is expected to lift slightly on straights or early on corner exits to allow the faster car to pass safely.
  • Faster Car Responsibility: The Blue Flag does not give the faster car the right to punt the slower car. The overtaking driver is still responsible for executing a safe pass.

3.3 Red Flag Procedure

In the event of a Red Flag, the race is suspended immediately.

  • Cease Racing: All drivers must immediately stop racing and reduce speed. Overtaking is strictly prohibited.
  • Follow Instructions: Drivers must follow the Race Director's instructions regarding parking or returning to the pits.
  • No Chat Spam: Drivers should refrain from flooding voice or text chat during a Red Flag to allow officials to communicate clearly.
4

Event Regulations

4.1 Qualifying Procedures

  • Blocking: Drivers on out-laps, cool-down laps, or tyre-warming laps must not impede competitors on timed laps.
  • Aborted Laps: If a driver abandons a flying lap, they must vacate the racing line at the earliest safe opportunity.
  • Overtaking: Overtaking during qualifying is only permitted when the driver ahead clearly yields. Forcing an overtake that compromises another driver's lap is prohibited.
  • Priority: Drivers on a timed lap always have priority over cars on out-laps or cool-down laps.

4.2 Race Starts & Restarts

Races will typically start with a rolling start unless otherwise indicated. Participants must maintain their positions and avoid overtaking until the green flag is shown. In the event of a disruption, participants must follow the race director's instructions regarding restart procedures.

4.3 Environmental Conditions

Drivers are expected to adapt to changing weather and track conditions. There will be no exceptions for mistakes made in poor conditions.

5

Multiclass Regulations

5.1 Class Interaction

Faster classes are responsible for executing clean, predictable overtakes. Slower classes must maintain their racing line and avoid sudden, unpredictable deviations.

5.2 Blue Flag Protocol (Multiclass)

Slower drivers should not reactively dive off the racing line. They must be predictable and let the faster car choose the passing side.

5.3 Right of Way

The car established in the corner has priority, regardless of class. Dive-bombing by faster classes into braking zones is prohibited.

6

Stewarding & Penalties

6.1 Stewarding Protocol

Race stewards ensure the event is run fairly. Decisions made by the stewards are final and binding. Stewards review incidents independently and must not discuss active incidents with other officials during voting.

6.2 Incident Assessment

Stewards will assign a Fault and Severity rating to each reported incident.

  • Fault Determination: Requires a majority vote (2 of 3 Stewards).
  • Severity Rating: Based on a 1–5 scale. The median (middle) score is the final score.

6.3 Penalty Structure

Penalties are automatically applied based on the finalized Severity rating:

SeverityPenaltyLicense Points
1Warning+1 LP
2+5 Seconds+2 LP
3+10 Seconds+3 LP
4+15 Seconds+4 LP

  • New evidence is presented.
  • A clear factual error occurred.
  • The wrong regulation was applied.
